Umvoti Aids Centre Keep Warm This Winter campaign

2018-06-27 06:00

UMVOTI Aids Centre hosted a blanket giveaway to our children beneficiaries from Tin Town and Lindelani informal settlements as well as the hostel.

Winter is a time for comfort, delicious warm food and indulgence in delicacies behind crackling fire places and warm blankets, pulling out those giant coats, boots, hats, gloves to keep warm outside.

However, the harsh opposite is the reality of many people in our district.

Staying warm and cozy in winter is a foreign concept to most of our community members and especially children.

We used this opportunity to educate children on their rights and safety, personal hygiene and the importance of education.

They enjoyed delicious warm food and each received their very own blanket. This wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for the Department of Agriculture, National Lottery Commission and the Department of Social Development for giving these children a day to remember.

We are truly humbled and very grateful for the continued support and assistance.

There are, however, many more children in our community who are in desperate need of blankets and warm clothes to keep wam this winter.

All clothing, blankets and shoes donations are welcome. They can be dropped off at the centre at the reception desk. You are welcome to contact us on 033 413 2745/6 or 064 870 5351.
