Umvoti Municipality maintains unqualified audit

2020-02-05 06:00

THE Umvoti Local Municipality has maintained its audit outcome by attaining an unqualified audit with findings.

This despite the numerous challenges and setbacks that the municipality encountered in recent months as well as backlash from opposition parties.

With the auditor general noting that the municipal financial statements present fairly the financial affairs of the municipality, this is a clear indication that the institution is well on its way to achieving the clean audit that it has been working relentlessly to achieve since 2016.

Spokesperson for Umvoti Local Municipality Phindile Phungula said: “Some of the findings expressed by the Auditor General can be attributed to historic decisions, that with time the municipality is working towards rectifying with the adequate consequence management system that it has since instituted, and is yielding the desired results.”

The mayor, Councillor Thami Ngubane, commended all municipal employees for their inputs and efforts which ensured the outcomes for this audit.

Furthermore, Ngubane encouraged them to put into place all strategies recommended in order to attain an unqualified audit opinion with no matters in the upcoming financial year. — Supplied.
