Umvoti protest march on today

2018-10-17 06:01

UNHAPPY members of the Umvoti community have organised a march, set to take place today, to express their dissatisfaction with Umvoti Municipality's response to appeals for service delivery.

Complaints centre around the increase in the price of electricity; lack of water supply; the "absolute plastic desert" — no delivery of orange plastic bags; no collection of waste from the dump site, which is creating major health hazards for the workers and the public; and the state of the roads in the town.

The march will start at 8 am today (Wednesday, October 17) — line up is at the Enhlalakahle New Hall.

Other groups from Umvoti will join in with the march at KFC. The march then proceeds to the municipal offices in Bell Street.

Please note political t-shirts are not allowed to be worn.
