Ward 7 — we must vote for change

2019-08-21 06:00

I WANT to express my gratitude to all the people who embraced our invitation and supported us at last Sunday’s event [NFP rally]. It was a very nice feeling to see the occasion becoming such a success. One must also thank the man above for the proliferation of both membership and supporters of our cause, which shows that people have been sitting with an excruciating situation for a long time.

Powers that be in the system that we are fighting deliberately ignored whatever move people were making to voice their concerns about certain issues. I think as a nation we must constantly revisit the wise words that our great leaders used to tell us because that will help us not to divert from the direction of our cause.

As people from Ward 7 and eNhlalakahle in particular, we can be disparaged and vilified for having made the move, but people must also remember that they are dealing with people who have been in the game for too long. What we are doing is what Nelson Mandela told us and we are not going to succumb to any kind of oppression and suffocation.

Mandela said: “If the ANC does to you what the National Party did, you must do to the ANC what you did to the National Party.” And we are doing exactly that. Lastly, to Ward 7 voters, I say let us go and vote for change and power to relieve us from this burden as a community.

DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON OF ENHLALAKAHLE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
