TOTALLY committed to helping the community Greytown’s water monitor Mzamo Lembethe has been appointed by AB Projects to assist Greytown residents at the street Jojo tanks.

Mzamo will check the tanks daily and will also chat to users about the water supply problems faced and the importance of allowing residents in need of water to have access to the tanks in their area.

Mzamo has an impressive record of voluntary work in communities in Matimatolo, where he grew up, and other areas. His abilities have been recognised by Cogta, among other organisations, since he matriculated at Elsie Mtshali. Mzamo has a number of social development courses to his credit and was previously involved in various aspects of social work and security.

Greytown water committee member Brian Walker has spent several days training Mzamo on the Jojo tanks’ usage to ensure they are kept filled, that there is no vandalisation and all concerned get their fair share of water. Mzamo is a firm believer in the importance of educating and communicating the reasons behind the need to save water, and told the Greytown Gazette that he regards this opportunity to serve as a water monitor as a calling more than a job, to be able to assist people.
