Water update

2016-09-21 06:00

IT was a sound Greytonians had not heard for many a month. The drumming of raindrops on a tin roof. With up to 44mls rainfall recorded last week even the most cynical are now cautiously admitting that those much-wanted and needed spring rains might just happen.

Lake Merthley now stands at 16.41% full.

There is still no response from Umzinyathi District Municipality to requests for information on the Craigieburn pipeline timeline. The trenches already dug are filling up with soil and grass and the thousands of pipes piled up by the previous contractors are in the process of being degraded.

This scheme is now way over completion time and even more over budget. Every day that passes the pipeline becomes more and more of a pipe dream.
