Welcome rains

2017-05-17 06:02

TOTALLY out of season but the rains recorded in Greytown and throughout the district have been very welcome.

From Friday to Monday 52mm was recorded at the Greytown Waterworks, Bracken recorded 60mm and Waterways (on Nadi road) 90mm. Although much appreciated the rain put somewhat of a damper on sports with, in particular, far less than expected participants in the annual Greytown MTB Festival weekend.

Rainfall recorded by Murray Mason for March - 70mm and April - 22mm.

With Lake Merthley level at 48.48% on Tuesday morning as there is no chance of water restrictions being lifted.

Unfortunately, there are still some irresponsible selfish thieves around - Jojo tank 53 was stolen last week from its stand in Cathcart Street. This was a much-used facility and now means that many elderly living in Concordia and the surrounding area face a major water problem.
