THIRTY to forty children gathered excitedly in the school courtyard to apprehensively watch the headmaster, Mr Swart, having his head shaved by the matric class.

The expressions on the faces of many pupils was either dismay or panic.

The CANSA fundraising committee at the school challenged the headmaster to shave his head if parents and pupils raised over R6 000 for CANSA.

One of the values at Wembley is leadership with enthusiasm. Mr Swart is certainly living this value through his leadership style.

He enthusiastically entered into having his head shaved to raise money for an invaluable cause.

Cancer is close to all our hearts with few people not being affected by it in some way.

The school managed to raise R6 400 and over R4 000 at the Mascor CANSA drive, hosted by the Form 5 Wembley pupils with the help of Rudolf Scharneck and the NG Church.

The total amount of money raised for CANSA was R10 400.

Wembley is proud of the staff and pupils who made this possible.

The school continues to enthusiastically assist its community.
