Where are the concrete bins and orange bags?

2018-09-12 06:01

ABOUT a month ago, the Umvoti Municipality workforce removed the concrete bins which were placed on pavements throughout the town to place rubbish bags, takeaway empties and more for collection.

Businesses were told that the bins were being removed to be cleaned and would be returned within two weeks. Four weeks later — but no bins!

The Greytown Gazette has been receiving complaints from residents about the lack of delivery of orange rubbish bags as well. As a regular follower of municipal tenders, quotations received, bids to be awarded, it is a matter of considerable interest to note that invitation to tender for orange rubbish bags are published every couple of months.

The most recent tender closed on July 29 and instead of up to 20 bidders there were just four ranging in price

From R2 300, R489 000, R1 950 and R500 750 — unfortunately no indication as to per thousand or for what period of time is given.

But it will be very interesting to see which is the successful bidder!
