Where are the traffic cops?

2017-09-27 06:00

SIR, I WAS visiting my family in Grey-town over the long weekend from Gauteng.

I must admit that my province has some very bad and irresponsible drivers, but I reckon that Umvoti beats them hands down.

Apparently driving with one hand while talking into a cellphone is accepted as normal. I noticed drivers doing this even with young children in their vehicle.

Are they not aware of the high accident statistics caused by this — and of course, even more so by the idiots who text while driving.

My family and I drove to Pietermaritzburg — I believe the road is nicknamed the “killer” road and I am not surprised.

The standard of driving is absolutely appalling — barrier lines and hills appear to be for passing and speed limits are non-existent.

The traffic is heavy and can be slow, but surely that does not excuse the really bad choices being made by a number of the drivers on this road.

Apart from the above — I  enjoyed my long weekend in your town — and hope that those spring rains come soon.
