REDUCE, reuse, recycle. The 2016 fashion show was a runway of creative ideas and outfits. From hand-me-downs from siblings, painted robots, filling Dad’s shoes to outfits made of all sorts of recycling mediums, everything was an explosion of creativity.
We were also honoured to experience the creative genius of our own Form 6 pupil, Nosipho Ndawonde, with her re- styled couture. A special word of thanks to our sponsors, staff and pupils who were involved in making this evening a success - we appreciate the support shown by the parents in creating the outfits.

Wembley College hosted a small rugby day that was attended by Greytown Junior, Mount Curro and Wartburg pupils. The conditions were near perfect and Wembley’s approach was to use this day as trials to gauge where our players stand. They played four games of 10 minutes each and the coaches had to play with a revised squad each time as our policy was to give each boy sufficient game time.
The most exciting aspect of the day was the fact that the U11 boys fielded a squad of 16 players and the U13 boys a squad of 19 players. This means that we are yet again another step closer to playing the 15-man game format. One of the goals we have set is to play the 15-man format this season. If we accomplish this, it will be the first time in many years that we see Wembley College fielding more than seven players. Please support us in achieving this goal.
Even though we had this approach for the day, both the U11 and U13 boys managed to win 50% of their games. There were boys who ran onto the field for the first time, which was excellent for the development of our rugby. We will therefore, endeavour to equip every player with the required skills to be able to play the game confidently. There is a long road that lies ahead but what counts is that we have made a start. Thank you parents, for your loyal support.

Wembley College congratulates Luke Porée and Tayla Porée for making the Midlands swimming team. They will be participating in the KZN trials on 7 May in Durban.
