ON Thursday 24 November the JP Phase celebrated the "Moving On" of our Grade R and Grade 3 children.

The Aloe Hall was filled with proud parents, many with a tear in their eye as they commemorated the end of this stage of their children's school career.

We are so proud of the Grade 3s and wish them well on their next journey. Along with this, we would like to officially welcome the Grade Rs to "big school".

The excitement was palpable on Friday 25 November. It was show time for the pre-school. After weeks of rehearsing it was finally time for the concert.

Dancing sheep, rapping Humpty Dumpties, reindeer doing the "Reindeer Pokey" and blind mice dancing to Sunshine in my Pocket entertained the appreciative audience.

The Grade RR girls had everyone in awe with their "star" dance. It was a happy concert and parents, as well as teachers, were very proud of the children's acting abilities. Thank you to all the parents who supported it. A huge thank you to Mrs Renate Hiestermann, who put in so many extra hours to write our concert script, and to help our children with the singing.

We bid a very sad farewell to Miss Amy Woolahan, who will be leaving us at the end of the year. Miss Woolahan joined us at the beginning of 2014 in the English department. Her cheerful nature was a welcome addition to the staff. She has served with enthusiasm wherever she has been planted and we are extremely grateful to her for her input.

This year she has been our Grade 5 teacher and we know that her heart is with high school pupils so we will let her go to the “bright lights” to find new adventures. Good luck and we will miss you.

It is also with sad hearts that we say goodbye to Miss Monique van de Merwe. She has been an integral part of the Foundation Phase for the past four years.

We have grown dependent on her capable skills during her “learnership” with us.

Studying to become a senior primary-trained teacher did not hinder her in any way as she become well loved across the board.

Fortunately, she will not be far away next year, as she is heading to the SP Phase.

We wish her well in her new adventures and hope she pops in regularly for visits.
