FIRSTLY, we would like to remind you to save the date - 1 and 2 September - for the annual Duck Derby. Please invite friends, family and your community. We would like to celebrate our 20th year with all of the appropriate pomp and fanfare. Furthermore, Wembley College would also like to congratulate Jaco Swanepoel, our dux in 2016, who received money in addition to a full Sanral scholarship. He is currently studying engineering. Lastly, the boarders left for the Wagondrift camp this week. It was an informative and fun time for the boarders and the staff even though the weather did not play along and it rained heavily on Saturday afternoon. When they arrived they were greeted by the picturesque view of the Wagondrift dam, and soon saw boats speeding towards them. These boats gave them a splendid cruise across the dam to the campsite and started the camp off well. After getting to the tents and choosing beds, the boarders all assembled and headed up to the obstacle course. As they were about to begin the course, the rain turned torrential and it became unsafe, so it was under the cover of the communal areas for the rain activities (Ninja warrior and design a country). The rain stopped long enough for them to enjoy some stalk the lantern (many boarders found new ditches by falling into them). On Sunday they were greeted by sunlight and were able to do the full nature walk while learning some interesting facts about flora and fauna.
