ON Friday November 17, the Form 4 class travelled to Shongweni Dam to attend a leadership camp called Spirit of Adventure.

It was a tough and adventure-filled three days with challenges to overcome such as rock climbing, kayaking, a 500m obstacle course, rock jumping and abseiling down the 30m dam wall.

Many of the activities taught us how to be better leaders and how to manage a team while including everyone in the decision making process.

A number of the activities tested our mental power by requiring us to solve riddles and tested our ability to think outside the box.

Over the course of the weekend, we learnt a lot about team work and had so much fun together as a class. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Hutch for taking us there and to the camp instructors, who encouraged us to participate in all the planned activities and reach our full potential.

Thank you for attending this evening with us and for your generous contributions towards our giving project - Philani Crèche.

We are also proud of the SP pupils who made educational toys (with samples from Mrs Porée) for the crèche in their art lessons. Thank you from Philani.

Dear Mr Swart and the Wembley family, thank you again for your extremely generous donations towards filling our pantry. We are so grateful. Kevin, Lauren and all at Philani.

On Friday, November 24, the preschool held their annual year-end concert. It was a buzz of excitement as this year’s theme was under the sea. There were mermaids’ kisses, starfish wishes, sharks, hunks and beach babes galore.

Boys and girls from Grade RRRR to Grade R dressed up as different sea creatures and had a lot of fun dancing and singing to the rhythm of the sea.

Parents, grandparents and friends had a whale of a time as they laughed and sang.
Well done and thank you to everyone who was involved with designing decorations, stitching together dresses and outfits and a special, big thank you to Renate Hiestermann who wrote and narrated the play.
