ON Thursday, February 8, our second team played some excellent tennis against Voortrekker 2 and achieved a win of 6-0.

On Saturday, February 10, the high-school girls’ squad participated in their annual doubles championships. Congratulations go out to Ashleigh Mason and Robyn Steyn, who kept their position as the best doubles team.

Wembley College would also like to commend Sarah Barber on participating in the Puma School of Speed Athletics this past Saturday, where she received a gold medal for long jump as well as a gold medal for 100 m sprints.

The school also congratulates Qaphela Mzila for being selected to represent Midlands at the Inter Regional Tennis Tournament in Durban on the weekend of March 3.

Lastly, Wembley College hosted its annual Umvoti 6s cricket tournament at the weekend where 13 teams took part. At the end, New Hanover “A” and Ashton made the final. Ashton batted first, setting up a target of 61. After the last 5 overs, Ashton were comfortable winners. Congratulations to Ntando Ngcobo for his hat-trick vs Winterton and to Ruan Warden who had to be retired on 3 of his 6 fixtures.
