IT was all things bright and beautiful at the 12th annual Sunflower Fund Ladies Breakfast, in association with Meraki Women Couture, which took place at the Coastlands Musgrave Hotel on March 3 for a sold-out 210 women.

Guests were aglow in their “Summer and Sunflowers” inspired ensembles and enjoyed a morning of meaningful fun, food and pampering in the name of charity and hope.

Among the many pleasant sweets and treats, guests enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast spread, awesome goodie bags, special gifts sponsored by B.O.N Natural Oils, exciting shopping stalls, including a fun photo booth courtesy of Graham Carruthers Photography, a La Vita Spa pamper station as well as decadent desserts courtesy of Chateau Gateaux and the South African Hospitality Institute students.

There were also three raffle prize draws and loads of other exciting prize giveaways. Inspirational guest speakers of the morning included Vukile Nongcebo McKenzie, media personality and on-air presenter at Ukhozi FM, who spoke on the power of voice and harnessing one’s magic.

Sandra Thomas, owner of the well-known Satin Candy lingerie stores, enlightened the audience on good bra health and other proper practises.

Shireen Eraman, executive chef and director of Food Factori Corporate Catering, a former senior lecturer at the International Hotel School, did a sterling job of compering the event.

Funds raised from the event will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness as well as educate and recruit more blood stem-cell donors.

This is fundamental to offering the hope of life to patients diagnosed with life-threatening blood diseases like leukaemia who are in need of a blood stem-cell transplant from an unrelated matching donor.

A big thank you to valued sponsors Meraki Women Couture, B.O.N Natural Oils, Food Factori, Coastlands Musgrave Hotel, Chateau Gateaux, Vukile McKenzie, Sandra Thomas, Graham Carruthers Photography, Plan Ahead Events & Décor, La Vita Spa, Mobile Model Management, Vegmoflora, Bethany Farms, Wired Media, the South African Hospitality Institute, prize and goodie bag sponsors, volunteers, guests and all supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
