Advertorial My journey as an artist

2015-08-25 06:01

IT has been a surprise and satisfaction that I was given a modest artistic talent and was able to derive an income from it.

Being an artist is not steady income job and one has to often “bite the bullet”, but it is most satisfying to be able to paint something that will provide more than a lifetime’s worth of pleasure for my patrons. One of the other pleasures has been the interaction I have had with the public, and there are many anecdotes that I would like to include in the book I am writing about the incidents and people I’ve met along this life’s journey.

There have been many laughs along the way, and I guess there have been many disappointments too, but one tends to remember only the former. Years ago in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, I ran an art school – one class for children and one for adults.

Art has been good for my ‘beliefs’ as I have come to realise that there are forces out there looking after one’s interests and whilst I never hit the big time, there has always been enough.
