THE Kloof and Highway SPCA believes that education is fundamental in teaching people to respect and care for animals.

During 2015 and 2016 the SPCA will be launching a Pet-Pals Education Programme where the SPCA’s education team will teach pupils about responsible pet care, animal welfare principles and the goals and mission of the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

Education officers will visit pre-schools and primary schools throughout the Kloof and Highway area as well as the surrounding rural areas to give talks and present the SPCA’s Pet-Pals Education Programme, which includes an interactive puppet show and classroom activity booklets.

An exciting puppet show, aimed at Grade 1 to Grade 3 pupils will also be part of the programme. This teaches them the five Pet-Pals care rules.

Although these educational efforts are targeted at schools in the Kloof and Highway rural and disadvantaged communities, the Pet-Pals material and puppet show will also available to children throughout the Highway area.

To register for the Pet-Pals programme or puppet show or to make a booking for a school group to visit the Kloof and Highway SPCA or for the SPCA education team to visit your school, e-mail marketing1@kloof or call 031 764 1212/3 and speak to an SPCA Education Officer. - Supplied.
