“He also found the freshly skinned pelt of a German Shepherd dog, the carcass of which must have been taken for meat. He said the pelt was of a German Shepherd in good condition, and this dog must be someone’s lost pet.”

Edwards said that the resident called in the Dog Unit who searched the area and found signs of human habitation in the bush.

“Another report I received was of a (protected) blue duiker which was released from a snare along the railway line behind a hardware store in Hillcrest. This ensnared duiker was found by the chairman of the Hillcrest Conservancy, George Victor,” Edwards added.

In addition she said that illegal hunting with dogs was reported in the sugarcane land near Cliffdale Road, and unfortunately the hunters were not apprehended.
