HIRSCH’S Hillcrest and Oxford Fresh Market and Fruit and Veg City celebrated National Food Day recently with a visit to the Focus on iThemba organisation in Hillcrest - dropping off bags of food for the children at the school.

Desigan Naidoo, Hirsch’s Hillcrest sales representative, said he was overwhelmed by the children hugging him and showing their gratitude.

“One of the children said to me, ‘please come again. I love you’. It was fantastic that we were able to give back to our community.”

Hirsch’s staff spent time with the children while they had their lunch and the visit ended with the Grade 3 pupils singing songs of thanks.
