THE Robin Hood Foundation is hosting a fundraising event at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre to raise funds for its Future Women of Africa Conference - the foundation’s focus project for 2015, on Friday 3 July.

Tickets are R120 and include the Soldiers in the City show and snacks. A cash bar is available and the doors open at 6pm.

The Pansa Young Performers’ production is about two best friends, both poets, who compete in an underground slam poetry challenge, where they realise that words are sharper, and more dangerous, than swords, and that forgiveness and loyalty is more valuable than glory.

Soldiers in the City is a vibrant, contemporary, relevant story talking to pertinent youth-focused issues. The production examines the overt culture of the new generation which includes rhyming, beat-box, urban dance, music and public artwork like graffiti - much like the Step Up movie series.

Soldiers in the City is an innovative, new home-grown work created by Themi Venturas, Iain “Ewok” Robinson and Lucky Cele.

To book, email Kim Griffith Jones on robinhoodfund@telk as soon as possible as tickets are selling fast. - Supplied
