THE Robin Hood Foundation recently teamed up with the Watercrest Mall Centre Management and some of their amazing tenants: Happy.Me, Sorbet, Security Hyperstore, Ster Kinekor, Panarotti’s, Nail Factor, Checkers, Daniela’s, Dis-Chem and Wimpy to make some young girls dreams come true. These 10 young OVC teen girls, as highlighted by Sethani Organisation, have stood out for various reasons - from their lack of resources to their responsibility levels or having excelled academically despite their hardships.

These girls were invited to be hosted by a group of volunteers from The Robin Hood Foundation to enjoy some VIP treatment and a special "Girls Day Out" at Watercrest Mall.
It was a full day out which included breakfast, shopping, pedicures, lunch, a self-defense demonstration, a movie and so much more, but most importantly for some, the one-on-one experience with the volunteers as some of these girls have never had a mother to bond with or care for them. Each girl went home with arms laden with shopping bags and gifts, toiletries, groceries and treats from the tenants.

Kim Griffith Jones, co-ordinator of The Robin Hood Foundation said, “We are so grateful to centre management and the tenants at Watercrest Mall, as well as the amazing team of volunteers who joined us to ‘host’ a child. They all went beyond expectation and made the girls feel so welcome and like really special VIPs! A huge thanks to all who got involved!”

"Today was like something a girl can only dream of, like something from a TV show," were the parting words from one very grateful young heart.
