HUNDREDS of matriculants started their 2015 final examinations yesterday.

Waterfall College’s principal Jeanette van der Merwe wished her pupils well and gave insight to the vision for the newly renovated 40-acre campus - a complete educational journey from 18 months to 18 years through quality independent school education.

“Waterfall College chooses to be one of the South African schools that continue to strive for excellence as an educational centre.

“Despite our size, we want to play a role in uplifting education in South Africa by equipping all our pupils with fundamental skills - skills learnt from our teachers that enable our pupils to go out, like Musk and Marais, to make a difference.”

Special recognition was also given to pupil Michaela Christophers (dux), Tarryn Lindsey (proxime accessit to dux), Michaela Christophers and Joshua Wood (Principal’s Award for Exceptional Commitment, Leadership and Integrity, 2015 head boy and head girl 2015).

In addition awards were given to Sports Person of the Year Award - Ciara van Niekerk (majorettes captain 2015), Madelein Grové - award for service to the school - Morné Pieters, Bourreau Award for Creative Excellence - Megan Clifton, Jenny Schingler Award for Perseverance - Zanezipho Nxumalo, Siobhan Cahill Extra Mile Award - Rebecca Harvey, Steven Grové Award for Most Academic Improvement - Kade Streak, Pat Waters Trophy for a female student who displays great Initiative and Leadership - Michaela Christophers, The Viriliter Age Award for Outstanding Waterfall College Student - Megan Clifton ? Bev Surmon, head of English and life orientation, gave a touching tribute to the Class of 2015, quoting from classics in literature personally selected and dedicated to graduating pupils.
