WATERCREST Mall is now home to a Ster Kinekor movies theatre and their aim is to assist the community to create great memories.

The Fever chatted to Brad Knowles, the general manager of marketing for Ster Kinekor theatres, about the new cinema and his life in the industry.

HILLCREST FEVER: Your first impression of the Highway area.

BRAD KNOWLES: This is my first time in this area (Upper Highway) and it is really beautiful. I am staying at a beautiful B and B near a mountain drop. It really is a valley of thousand memories. This place is a hidden gem in KZN.

HF: What atmosphere does Ster Kinekor aim to set for this community?

BK: Ster Kinekorand#039;s promise is great moments at their greatest. This can mean various things to various people - having a great film moment and experience it at the greatest format that the director intended it to be, but itand#039;s also great moments like family moments.

You can come to the movies to make memories - perhaps itand#039;s your childand#039;s first movie experience - that is a great moment or maybe a first date for example. I can still remember the first time I took my now wife to the movies.

Itand#039;s those great moments that we, at Ster Kinekor, get to nurture and create.

HF: Which classic movie would you like to have digitally re-mastered and brought back to the big screen?

BK: It would be a Christmas movie - Miracle on 34th Street. Again this movie has such amazing childhood memories for me. I have a three-year-old son now and I would love to have that movie digitally re-mastered and brought back to the big screen so I could take him on Christmas to watch. That would be a special moment.

HF: A career highlight thus far.

BK: We made an amazing commercial called the Intersection. It cleaned up at all the creative awards winning gold in most of the categories.

It was like making my own film. I got into this business because of my love for films and being apart of making a two-minute film was probably a career highlight for me
