MOLWENI resident, Lindokuhle “Cheesenator” Bhengu (24), who comes from eMadimeni is appealing to the Hillcrest, Pinetown and surrounding area residents to vote for him since being nominated at the Live Your Dreams Awards.

“I sing and write kwaito and hip-hop music. I was nominated in the best upcoming artist in KZN category in the Live Your Dreams Awards. I approached the Fever for assistance because I read it every week and believe it will put the word out for people to vote for me.

“I will be hosting an event in my neighbourhood in mid-October, the purpose of which is to enable people to see what I am made of and will include various KZN artists.”

Bhengu was born in Inkandla and moved to Molweni when he was seven.

“Growing up in a rural area did not stop me from chasing my dream. The passion for music started way back when I was a young boy.”

He said he always wanted to make a difference seeing that he came from a poor community.

“I wanted to be different and have something to cherish. I grew up in a very poor background where people drink alcohol every day. I had to do something to keep me busy and help me to get away from the peer pressure.

“So I joined dance groups while doing music on the side as I believe my music has a message.”

One of his favourite songs he wrote is Look where I am Now.

“When I wrote this track my mind felt as though I had to tell the youth to not be discouraged about what they believe in. I started from nowhere, but now I am somewhere. I grow in music from day to day. This song’s lyrics express my feelings as they are lyrical and inspiring. Music is my life - nothing makes me feel good like music does.

“I want to tell the youth not to be discouraged. Donand#039;t let anyone tell you it is impossible. It is up to you to make everything possible. Life it all about aiming high. Never settle for less - be a fighter, root your seeds so you will enjoy the fruit of what you have planted.”

To vote for Bhengu SMS LYD045 to 45633. Lines are open until 26 November. SMS costs R1.50. For more information, contact Bhengu on 083 738 8741
