HILLCREST SAPS made a major breakthrough last week and arrested a man in connection with a rape at the Molweni reserve in Hillcrest.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Constable N. Manqele said it is alleged that on Sunday 21 June at about 8.30am the victim was with her friend at the bus stop in Fannin Road in Molweni when she was approached by her ex-boyfreind who accused her of “gossiping” about him.

“The man started to assault the victim and dragged her in the nearby bush and raped her,” he said.

A case of rape was reported to Hillcrest police station for further investigation and the he was arrested.

“He is also wanted for the same charges in Port Edward. The man will be charged and appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon,” Manqele said.

The Hillcrest station commander commended the good work done by the Hillcrest detectives. - Supplied
