“I WILL do everything in my power to fight for my rights as a woman, and I will expose this pervert.” These are the words of a distressed, angry woman, who works as a security guard, who claims to have been sexually assaulted by her supervisor several times.

Speaking to the Fever journalist, the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the problem started when she was assigned to work at an Upper Highway mall in April. “When the mall opened on 1 April was so excited. Everything was fine until my supervisor sexually harassed me on 26 April.

“I shocked and told him politely that I am not comfortable with what he was doing. He asked me why I had a problem with it when other female staff members didn’t mind him touching them.”

She said he continued touching her inappropriately even though she told him she would report him. “He continued with his bad behaviour, and on 8 June I told him that I am going to report the matter to the police. He told me I would lose the case because he has friends in the SAPS. I was traumatised I told my husband about the situation, who encouraged me to open a case of sexual harassment.”

After opening a case at the police station she received threats from her supervisor. “He told me that if I take the matter to the police he will make sure that I lose my job. He said if I didn’t report him he would promote me to CCTV manager in the control room.

“When I went to work after opening a case against him, he was informed about it. The site manager called me in and said the matter could be fixed without involving the police. “My argument to him was that I did report him to the company but nothing was done, and now that Iand#039;m involving the they want me to close this case.

“The company told me to write out a statement and send it to them. I then found out that they would change it when we went to court. I did my own investigation and found out that most of the women whom my supervisor sexually harassed where fired after trying to report the matter. Now all the people who were supposed to be my witness have also been fired.”

“All I want is justice to be served. I am a woman and I know my rights. People like him should not be allowed in the work environment. The company has shown that they donand#039;t encourage women rights. This man must learn his lesson.”

The woman continues to work for the company, but at another site. The site manager said the matter is under police investigation and he cannot comment
