TWO men, aged between 19 and 35, were arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Hillcrest on Wednesday.

Hillcrest detectives were on a suspect raid when they received information that the men had an unlicensed firearm.

They went to the KwaNyuswa reserve and recovered a .38 Special, which was stolen during a house robbery in Hillcrest on Thursday 9 July.

It is alleged the two men broke into a house in Hillcrest and threatened the complainant with a knife and robbed him of jewellery.

They then demanded the safe keys and they the firearm and other items.

The case of house robbery was reported to Hillcrest police station for further investigation. One man was arrested by the task team from Hillcrest SAPS

These two men were charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
