FOUNDED on a heritage of Christian education, the 40- acre campus will house three independent schools under a new umbrella brand - Waterfall Schools, City Schools in the Country.

A complete educational journey named “Waterfall Schools”, offering quality independent education for 18 months to 18 years, is the new vision for the iThemba campus. An advisory board of educational and business experts are working together to craft the plan for the three schools - Waterfall Pre-Primary School, Waterfall Primary School and Waterfall College. The existing iThemba Academy on the campus will continue as a separate outreach initiative.

Waterfall Pre-Primary School (Grade 000 to Grade R), is moving from central Waterfall into the new state-of-the-art facilities opening in January 2016.
Waterfall Primary School (Grade 1 to Grade 7), a new primary school is starting a Grade 1 class in 2017 on the iThemba campus. ?
Waterfall College (Grade 8 to Grade 12), is the existing IEB independent high school with a well-established presence on the campus as “the school with the personal touch”.

The advisory board, with educational and business experts to craft the new future, will build a unified brand for the new Waterfall schools in line with the core values shared between the non-profit companies.

The advisory board, chaired by Danie van den Heever, includes experts Sharron Lane, past head of Foundation Phase and The Weavers’ Nest at Highbury Gerald Delport, chairperson of the Waterfall College directorate, teacher and past principal of Hillcrest High School, past superintendent of Education for Department of Education Roger Wood, chairperson of the governing body of Waterfall College, parent and businessman, Jeanette van der Merwe, principal of Waterfall College and Gavin Simpkins, strategic consultant.

The ethos of the school is based on a strong foundation of Christian values and quality independent education.
The land already has a rich educational and spiritual heritage.

Waterfall College principal Van der Merwe spoke about the vision: “We have found in Waterfall Pre-Primary School a partner with an excellent reputation for quality pre-school education. Our progress together is already showing results in the positive reactions we are receiving from parents, teachers and pupils. The creation of Waterfall Schools presents the upper Highway community with a compelling choice in independent schools.”

Waterfall Pre-Primary School principal Paula Mason says: “We are so excited that our pre-school is moving into a new state-of-the-art building on the iThemba campus and look forward to being an integral part of the family under the Waterfall schools’ umbrella. Our parents and their children are thrilled with the offerings we have introduced for 2016 and are looking forward to being the founder members of an educational hub on the campus.”
