UPPER Highway resident Lynette Reynolds spends her time uplifting her community by fundraising for various organisations, donating, and sponsoring those in need.

Reynolds said that after her husband and herself sold their business, they had some extra money which they thought of putting to good use by donating to underprivileged people in their community.

“It’s not because we had much, but we did not have a use for the money at the time and that’s when I thought of empowering those who are doing good in the community,” she said.

She revealed that she’s passionate about education, even though she didn’t pursue a career towards it, and that’s why she saw it fitting to help those who are doing everything they can to educate children.

“Safety of children is very important, which is why I want to do anything I can to help enrich their dreams by providing the people who can teach them with resources,” she said.

The 78-year-old and her husband built a creche in Shongweni, donated materials and did other things to uplift the underprivileged.

Reynolds revealed that she’s doing this to help and uplift the community to be a better place for the children.

“I can’t bear to see someone else struggling, which is why I do what I do,” she said.

“We should all try to give back and every little bit counts,” she concluded.
