THE annual Kloof and Highway SPCA Carols by Candlelight opened with the magnificent sounds of the Durban Regiment Pipe Band on Saturday 5 December at 5:30pm.

The majestic sound that these musical instruments make sets a very festive feel at the start of the service. This year the audience were entertained by the Kloof High School Gum Boot dancing team, which consists of some very talented and entertaining young men who festively added fun to this annual event.

The Joyful Song Group, also from Kloof High School, sang beautifully accompanied by Mrs Bekker on the keyboard. Belinda Dolphin then took to the stage and sang various popular Christmas carols and songs. The audience sang along enjoying the festive celebrations.

Lisa Gadd SPCA outreach officer said, “A huge thank you to Selby's who very generoulsy donated the stage and all sound and lighting equipment. Thank you to Noel from MTT Structures for donating a huge marquee in case of the weather, thank you Belinda Dolphin for co-ordinating this event and for all your effort and expertise in ensuring that this annual event is always a success.” She thanked Kloof High School for sharing their wonderful talent and she thanked all those that attended and supported the annual Carols by Candlelight, “Despite the rain and mist, great fun was had by all,” she added.
