ON Thursday 28 April at the April Golden Paw Society meeting the Kloof and Highway SPCA manager, Barbara Patrick, spoke about the most recent outreach clinic with National Council of SPCAs in the remote town of Pomfret, situated five kilometres from the Botswana border.
The outreach team worked hard and sterilises over 300 animals and carried out other complicated surgeries for the animals of the Pomfret community. The NSPCA farm animal team treated over 100 donkeys, treating wounds they got from the carts they pulled, checking the saddles used to ride them and removing old bits and replacing them with new bits. Thirty tons of animal feed was delivered to the small farmers in the community for their goats and cattle, and 7 775 litres of much-needed water was also delivered.
The aim of the Golden Paw Society is to welcome supporters as part of the SPCA family and keep them informed about the work undertaken by the Kloof and Highway SPCA in terms of inspectorate activities, animal health care, the care of animals in the shelter, outreach clinics and education to promote the humane treatment of all animals.
The Kloof and Highway SPCA extend an invitation to all our supporters and members in our community who care about welfare of animals and who would like to become actively involved with the society to join the Golden Paw Society. They host a morning tea every month, on the last Thursday of the month.
