UPPER Highway art teacher Sue Green and her Monday students will use their talents to give back to the community with a fund-raising art exhibition outside Kloof SuperSpar, Kloof Village Mall on Friday 11 March from 8am to 3.30pm.

Speaking to the Fever student Rosemary Lubbe said artists will offer a wide selection of art in subject matter - flowers, animals, landscapes, etc. In mediums - oils, acrylics, watercolour and coloured pencil drawings, and in different sizes meet everyone’s needs.

She said Green has been painting since a young girl - the rest of the team have from 10 to 30 years’ painting experience.

Lubbe said she got into art 14 years ago when she needed a new career.
“I decided to put all my time, energy and study into art. I’m pleased with the progress and find it very rewarding. I’ve met lovely people in my journey,” she said.

She said art is a fulfilling and exciting occupation, although sometimes frustrating, and always takes hard work. It is also therapeutic when it goes well.

“We are excited about what we have to offer - the art is of a high standard, and affordable. Therefore, we are confident in helping Kloof and Highway SPCA.”

Lubbe added the ladies are always excited when a buyer says “I must have this painting”, or “this painting will make a perfect gift for my wife”.

“People always enthuse when they are buying a painting. The sale of a painting becomes a joyous occasion, and other artists in the group are excited about the sale.”

Her message to the community is, “Enjoy art, treasure it, and make it your own by supporting a good cause such as SPCA.”
