MUSIC maestro and KZN-born entrepreneur, Lindelani Mkhize recently presented the Ignite music and lifestyle showcase to media at the Moses Mabhida’s Presidential Atrium.

In the build-up to the event on Friday December 22, Mkhize together with some of the new cast members that will perform on the night presented the state of readiness and what guests can look forward when they attend the glittery event.

The youngest member of the cast is Itumeleng Silela (13), from Pinetown. She said she was excited at the opportunity to perform on the Ignite stage and paid special tribute to her father Lehlohonolo Silela, who is also her manager and mentor for entering her into the #Ignitemyfire competition.

Mkhize spoke about his deep seated love and passion for unearthing and nurturing talent.

He explained how the education system equips individuals with information about different crafts and sectors of industry but does not have sufficient infrastructure in place to bridge
the practical training and exposure gap.

“After the many years I have spent in the music and creative arts industry I realised our biggest problem as an industry is that although our youth are talented and academically knowledgeable those who make it to higher institutions of learning lack the financial resources, mentoring and guidance of how to go about pursuing and building their music careers.

“Ignite was thus born out of a
desire for me to see such talent not go unnoticed and not playing the development and growth role it could play in the creative arts industry.”

“Ignite is an accessible platform for artists wishing to put their foot at the door of the entertainment industry.

“The event is attended by talent scouts, recording company executives, music promoters and investors who the unknown talent would have otherwise not had access to or at least had difficulty in presenting their craft to them. So essentially, the possibilities are endless once on the Ignite stage.”

Tickets available at Computicket.
