Bring the bra

2017-10-31 06:00

WHEN businesswoman and entrepreneur Alice Leah appealed on Facebook for help to collect bras for underprivileged teenage girls in and around Durban, she had no idea what she was in for.

Leah has been drowning in bras of all shapes, sizes and colours and they just keep coming in. Local lingerie store Satin Candy (with stores in Kloof and Durban North) embraced the call and asked customers to donate their pre-loved bras to the cause and in exchange offered them R75 off a new bra.

This proved particularly successful and they amassed almost 10 black bags for #bringthebras - a veritable mountain of bras.

When asked why she decided to get involved and do something, instead of turning a blind eye as most people would have done, Leah said: “If everyone just decided to do one thing, imagine what we could collectively achieve… one drop starts a flood…”.

The finer details and logistics of the distribution have yet to be worked out, but if you would like to assist Leah by donating bras or helping to get them to where they need to go, email alice@thealist. co.za -| Supplied.
