INTERNATIONAL Cat Day takes place annually on August 8, and was established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). Their mission is to rescue and protect animals from around the world and bring awareness to the number of homeless cats.Compass Cares, an initiative of Compass Medical Waste Services, and NPO, Cats of Durban, are launching their 2018 Cats of Durban “kitten edition” calendar to commemorate this day as well as celebrate the feral, abandoned and stray cats that they have sterilised, fed and cared for over the years.Every R500 raised from the sale of these calendars pays for sterilisation of one cat, which prevents 2 000 unwanted kittens from being born within four years, and two million unwanted kittens in an eight-year period. So buy an A3 size, gift boxed calendar for R150 (excluding postage and packaging) to celebrate this special day and support a great cause. To order your calendar, contact Trenal Govender on 031 267 9700 or email email@example.com For cat lovers who wish to express their feline appreciation on International Cat Day, here are some ways to do so:• buy a Compass Cares Cats of Durban 2018 charity calendar or two as gifts.
