THE Clermont Youth Centre is inviting the public to join them in celebrating their legends at The Clermont Legends Awards ceremony, being held at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Friday, June 15.

Clermont Youth Centre co-ordinator Sithembiso Buthelezi said the centre will also host a five-day workshop, which commenced Monday June 11, which is aimed at uplifting the youth of KZN.

“The first and second day of the workshop will be based on skills whereby various organisations will give talks on various skills. On the third day we will be putting people in different groups, depending on their skills and interests.

We have formed categories based around business, the arts category and entertainment. We have mentors from different sectors who will be giving talks pertaining to each specific category.

“We are hosting the Civil Society Development Indaba on day four and we have invited guest speakers from the Department of Social Development, The Activate Change Driver NGO, the National Lottery, the Democracy Development Programme as well as Sars. Day five is dedicated to The Legends Awards Ceremony,” he said.

The Clermont Youth Centre was established after seeing a need for a place to accommodate the youth where they can tackle issues concerning them also while empowering them with different skills.

The centre is registered under The Department of Social Development, which believes highly in uplifting the community.

“All our services are free and we are here to help the youth find jobs. That is why we offer all of these services free of charge.” Buthelezi said.

The centre covers the INK area, the West and outer West region as well as the Upper Highway area.”
