Creating a cozy bedroom

2017-06-27 06:00

TWO affordable ways to create a warm bedroom.

1. Snuggle up

A duck down or goose down duvet is a winter must. Down is the soft under-plumage that water birds have to keep them warm and dry.

To keep the cold at bay, invest in a duck down duvet which is ideal because it stays cool in summer and warms you up in winter. When splurging on a duck or goose down duvet, make sure you’re getting the real thing. Both duck and goose down bedding have a longer lifespan when compared to synthetic materials. So even though you’ll be paying more, you’re actually saving in the long run.

2. Pile on the plush

Pillows and cushions are a quick and easy way to warm up a bedroom and you can easily change the covers to complement the colours of a new season. For winter, choose warm colours.

Select an assortment of pillows and cushions in tactile fabrics such as rich velvet, faux fur and mock suede. This will help “turn up the heat” factor. If you have cash to spend, buy new curtains in colours that complement this winter theme.-
