THE Kloof CPF, along with the Kloof Patrol team, are warning residents to be more cautious as there is an increase in criminal activity in the area.

Kloof Community Policing Forum spokesperson Nikki Mohlmann said the most recent incident occurred last week when a family was robbed in their home and their vehicle was stolen.

She said that in addition, an armed robbery and murder took place in Waterfall.

Mohlmann said that they are doing all they can alongside the police to try to fight the crime in the area.

“The CPF, along with the Kloof Street Patrol team, which has a base station manned by Sam Shallcross, are working hard at assisting the SAPS.

“Since January, the Kloof patrollers have responded to 60 serious incidents such as house robberies, break-ins, hijackings and business robberies.”

She added that the SAPS cannot work alone and they are urging all security companies that operate in the area to contact them so they can work on securing the area strategically.

“At present, the Kloof CPF has various overview cameras and through the Kloof CPF and Proactive Projects we have several licence plate recognition cameras installed in Kloof and Waterfall.

“However, there aren’t enough cameras to cover all the entrances and exits, and we require assistance from fibre networks so we can link all these cameras back to the Kloof Police Station, so the SAPS can have extra resources at hand to assist them in securing the area,” said Mohlmann.

To offer assistance, contact the CPF at 061 582 1903.
