TO create awareness that rescue dogs are also adoptable is the main aim of ResQ the Runway, which is to take place on November 10 at the Hillcrest High School sports ground on Inanda Road.

ResQ the Runway is a modelling extravaganza that will showcase adoptable dogs as five animal welfare organisations, namely, Husky Rescue KZN, Animal Antics, PMB Animal Rescue (Parr), Friends of K9 and Animal Lodge, will be walking the runway with their rescues.

Friends of K9 spokesperson Debbie Smith said that the emphasis of the event is to create awareness, raise funds and hopefully get some adoptions of their rescue: “The event is supported by some well-known personalities and guests who are sure to entertain the public.”

Smith said that the funds raised on the day will help the five rescue organisations that are involved in the event and she reiterated that the public should support the event. “It’s important for the public to support it as they will raise much-needed funds for all the rescue centres and give animal rescue a chance to give back to them in the entertainment value that’s set for the day,” said Smith.

Besides the show there will be a market with crafts and food stalls to enjoy on the day.

The Friends of K9 spokesperson encouraged the community of Hillcrest to arrive in their numbers to support the event as it will make a huge difference to the rescue centres.

“This is a child-friendly event so you are encouraged to bring your family and friends. Remember, several lucky ticket holders stand a chance to win some awesome prizes, so the more family you bring with, the greater the chance it could be one of you,” she said.

“Several well-known models and members of our community have joined this collaboration to bring you the best value for your money. All that’s needed to make this event perfect is you,” said Smith.

Tickets are available through www.webtickets.co.za or from Pick n Pay.
