Family fun day for all

2018-06-12 06:00

AS one of the official charities of the Comrades Marathon, Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust (Hact) is holding a family fun day as part of its activation station to cheer on and support those running Comrades.

CEO of Hact Candace Davidson said they have over 70 runners who are running specifically for the centre and who have raised funds for their vital community services, “We want to cheer them on but also give support to all the runners of this amazing race.”

She said that the Hact Family Fun Day is an open invitation for the public to have a fun, safe and family friendly spot to get together as a community and support the runners as they run through the Hillcrest area and right past the Hillcrest Aids Centre.

“Everyone is welcome and nothing is needed, we just want individuals and families to join us and make the Hillcrest Aids Centre the best place to be on Comrades day.

“There will be entertainment, including a DJ, a local dance crew, jumping castle, face painting and great food, along with lots of cheering, vibe and fun,” said the CEO.

She also said that those who wants drinks can visit Butlers Restaurant. “The proceeds of the money raised from Butlers Restaurant will go towards the life-saving work of our Othandweni (place of love) Respite Unit, which cares for those with late-stage Aids and cancer, as well as our extensive Gogo Support Group project which assists over 54 gogo groups throughout the Valley of 1000 Hills and surrounds and hosts the annual Gogolympics.”

She urged the community to spend the day with them as they will make Comrades a memorable day for the community and the runners.
