WHY have the same old boring lunch at the pub or restaurant for your year-end function - rather book a year-end event that is out-of-the-ordinary for a change.

Catch the “holiday express” that departs conveniently from the security of the Durban Station Premier Lounge with its private platform and secure parking. Registration is at 8am and departure at 9am, on Friday, November 17.

It’s just 90 minutes to Umhlali Railway Station, travelling through the rolling hills of KZN, and with a selection of refreshments on board, the party is sure to get started early.

On arrival at the Umhlali station at 10.30am, guests will be whisked to the Salt Rock Hotel by coach to enjoy a welcome drink at 11am, with a deejay entertaining with the latest hits and some golden oldies.

Beach attire is recommended, or something cool, casual and comfortable. Between 11.30am and 1.30pm, guests will have a chance to “Dunk the DJ”.

The ECR breakfast team will be there and putting their bodies on the line to raise money for Toy Story (guests can pay R20 for three chances to Dunk the DJ.

Guests throw a ball in an attempt to hit a paddle which will release the seat the deejay will be sitting on that will dunk them into the water.

Guests will also play volleyball and soccer on the beach, and reality show games like Noot Vir Noot, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and bingo on the lawn.

Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm guests will enjoy a beach braai in front of the Salt Rock Hotel (private beach area).

The coach will then leave the hotel at 3pm and head back to the train, to depart by 3.30pm and arrive back in Durban by 5pm.

Tickets are R650 per person, and include the return train trip and the beach braai.

It excludes refreshments on the train and at the hotel. Bookings for groups of all sizes are welcome.
