PASSIONATE about helping street dogs find loving homes, local resident Kim Samuels volunteers at a small NPO called Project Dog, which has successfully housed hundreds of puppies to date.

Speaking to the Fever about the organisation she said that it is run by a small and dedicated group of people who are passionate about the rights of all animals and committed to giving every dog the opportunity of a healthy and happy life.

“We do this not only by means of rehabilitation which is most often implemented by the network of ‘foster parents’ of Project Dog, but also in our care to place each dog not only in a good home, but in a home that is suitable for the personality of the dog,” said Samuels.

“As a pro-life organisation, we are committed to helping each and every dog that we rescue – regardless of breed, size or background.

“Each dog is treated with kindness and dignity until such time as we find ‘the perfect match’ in terms of their new home.”

She said that the organisation is funded, in the main, by the very same people who foster, care for, rehabilitate and re-home the dogs that come to them.

“For this reason, we are extremely grateful for any donation or contribution made to Project Dog no matter how big or small,” said Samuels.

“We also receive lots of regular public donations of food, blankets, toys for pups, treats and chews. We are most grateful for this support and it is vital as it enables us to help more dogs in need,” she said.

“All the rescue dogs and puppies available for adoption are posted on our website for viewing.

“Please also be sure to "like" our Face Book page Project Dog Durban to see daily updates of what we have been up to. We currently home an average of 70 to 80 total of dogs and puppies a month,” she added.
