THE eThekwini West Gender
Forum, in partnership with the Pinelands Community Church, recently held a community outreach
programme at Gelofte Skool in Pinetown for
disadvantaged children.

The event brought smiles to their faces as they received an early Christmas surprise.

In addition the SAPS and Childline created awareness about child abuse and encouraged attendees to report any form of abuse.

Pinetown SAPS communication officer Captain BJ Manqele said: “About 250 children from disadvantaged communities within the eThekwini West Cluster attended the event.

“There were also exhibitions by the SAPS K9 Unit, SAPS Bike Unit and the eThekwini
Metro Police Mounted Unit.

“The children were later given lunch, Christmas gifts, party packs and stationery.”
