AS part of their community service the 1st Hillcrest Girl Guides sewed and knitted fleece beanies for the community. These were recently donated to 1000 Hills Community Clinic along with food and clothing they had collected for the less fortunate.

According to Guide leader Barbara Mercer each year the Girl Guides of the Hillcrest Guide Company work on community projects that will improve the lives of others.

“We want our guides to know what it means to give back, and work towards making the community a better place for all.”

She encouraged girls in the community to get involved with the guides as many have learnt invaluable life lessons.

“It was the first time I used a sewing machine and I am pleased to have made something for someone else,” said one young guide.

Karen Harte accepted the items on behalf of the 1000 Hills Community Clinic and thanked the girls for the gesture.
