Giving up and coming artists a chance

2018-07-17 06:00

SOUTH African Music Award winner Sfiso Mjoli popularly known as Dj Fisherman recently released a single called Glama, after four years. Fever journalist, Phindile Shozi had a chat with the Dj to know more about the single and what he is up to.

PS: When was the last time you released a single?

SM: I last released a single in 2014.

PS: What took you so long to release a song?

SM: I consider myself as a perfectionist and I really respect my audience’s ear and I want to always make a mark with my songs.

PS: When are you releasing an album?

SM: I’m currently working on it right now and maybe by December, I’ll release it.

PS: How many tracks will the album have?

SM: Well I have many songs as it but I’m possible hoping for 10 because there’s going to be a twist with those tracks. Five will be a different fusion with the other five and I’m doing that because I don’t want my audience to listen one and the same thing in one album.

PS: Who can the public expect to be featured on your album?

SM: I won’t feature many known artists because I want to give the up and coming artists a chance to redeem themselves to the public. They can expect Dj Bongs, Mampintsha and Efelow.

PS: Why did you choose to feature three known artists on your album?

SM: As you’ve said yourself that they are known and also getting old, we won’t be here forever but the music industry will still be alive with new artists. That’s the reason, I chose to work with unknown artists so that they can carry-on with the legacy as they are the future.

PS: What can you say to the public regarding your single?

SM: Well they will be surprised that my sound has changed from my last single. This one has a sound of Gqom and electro because I want people to experience the fusion that’s never been heard before. Also it has a message that there are different Glamorous women than others out there and as they listen to it they will point it out themselves what kind of glamorous category they fall under.
