HEAVENS Kitchen 3610 is a humanitarian organisation that feeds the hungry and homeless in the Pinetown area.
Since its inception in 2014, it has fed vulnerable people every Thursday evening through donations from companies and individuals.

Speaking to the Fever Kayleigh Symes said: “We are motivated by biblical scriptures that command us to ‘love others as ourselves’ (John 13:34) by meeting the needs of others, materially, spiritually and morally,” she said.

“We have also seen many religious and co-operated organisations do the same and we are inspired to toe the same line to help in the eradication of poverty, although not entirely.”

She said there are no restrictions to membership, but only kind-hearted people who are ready to give freely are welcome.

“You don’t have to be rich to get involved. A partner of Heavens Kitchen is someone who is capable of mobilising needed resources for the effective implementation of the project.”

“It is our mission to feed and love the homeless and destitute in a broken society. We do, however, require donors and sponsors as our aim is geared towards reaching the homeless and needy even beyond the borders of Durban,” said Symes.

Heavens Kitchen is currently running a blanket and goodie bag drive.

“We need 100, single-bed blankets and items for the goodie bag such as bath soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, green soap bar, candles, matches, chips and treats.”
