HIGHBURY Preparatory School, which incorporates the co-educational pre-primary school, Weavers’ Nest, opened their new educational offering for the Upper Highway community the Grade 0000 level on Friday 18 November.

“After research we established the need to cater for children who are two turning three as part of our Weavers’ Nest offering,” explained Belinda Willows, Weavers’ Nest Headmistress. “We are so delighted that our little girls and boys can now enjoy a full three years at Weavers’ Nest. We are delighted to welcome Mrs Deidre Dahl who will be teaching the Orange Group and Mrs Merle Viljoen in the Purple Group.”

The new Grade 0000 section is a seamless extension to the existing Weavers’ Nest on the Highbury Estate in Hillcrest. The nurturing hub has two big bright classrooms, kitchen, bathroom and includes a lush L-shaped enclosed garden complete with sand pit, swings and jungle gym.

“Richard Horner of Horner Associate Architects envisioned how to convert the original three bedroom house and BA Builders worked hard from June to October to make those plans a reality,” explained Bianca Woolley, Marketing Manager. “The result is so well integrated into the existing Weavers’ Nest, it looks like this extension was always meant to be.”

After the official ribbon cutting ceremony speeches were delivered by Highbury’s Headmaster, Brendan Carroll, and Belinda Willows. The first classes of girls and boys then arrived to meet their teachers and enjoyed a happy morning getting their symbols, seeing their classroom and meeting their new friends.
