HILLCREST resident, Mqondisi Percy Shozi, will launch his second poetry book, Wings of an Eagle, at a free event at Hillcrest Library on 26 November at 2.30pm.

Wings of an Eagle is a collection of poems that focus on finding faith, family, African roots, love, identity and vision.
At the end of each chapter there is a space for personal reflections so readers can reflect on how these topics relate to their lives.

The creation of this book started in 2014 when Shozi challenged himself to write a poem a day.
Despite his work load, he stuck to his challenge, often waking up at 4am or 5am to write.

“I grew up in KwaNyuswa in the Valley of 1000 Hills and have overcome significant challenges in my life.
“I write poetry because I want to encourage and motivate young adults so they make the right decisions and turn around whatever life throws at them to make it work for the good,” he said.

“The book will make a great Christmas gift for young adults looking to find their destiny or if they need encouragement to get through life’s challenges.”

Wings of an Eagle will be available to buy at the launch or by contacting Shozi at mqshozi@ gmail.com or 081 498 7802 (call WhatsApp). For more information, visit www.percyspoems. com
