KLOOF Conservancy held it’s annual Three Falls Trail Run recently.

The winners in the women race were first — Megan Leibetrau at 2:11:55, with a new course record for the 18,5km anti-clockwise run; second — Alison Misselhorn at 2:16:04 and third — Lauren Calenborne at 2:23:45.

In the men’s race, first was Colin vd Bergh at 1:53:36, second — Alisdair Leslie at 1:53:56 and third — Derek Wasserfall at 1:54:01.

The event is now firmly established as one of the leading trail runs in KZN and sold-out it’s 300 entry limit in 20 days. The weather was kind to the runners with cool and overcast conditions. The event is run over a very tough course of 18,5km through the very scenic Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. The runners faced several challenges which included very technical trail sections with steep ascents and descents.

The men’s event was keenly contested with the first three runners finishing within half a minute of each other.

The woman’s event was won in record time by first-time runner Megan Leibetrau.

The event is organised by the Kloof Conservancy with support from the Krantzkloof Honorary Officers, SANParks Honorary Rangers and radio marshals from Hamnet KZN.
